Nuestro viaje llega a su tercera parada. Convergencia. Y el titulo tiene mucho sentido, pues en este capítulo veremos converger los eventos desarrollados en los anteriores episodios y resuelto por fin un rompecabezas que lleva dando quebraderos de cabeza a la familia Blackwell durante varias décadas. Metámonos en harina: la protagonista vuelve a ser Rosangela, unida por un lazo inquebrantable con Joey, el fantasma guía de la familia que tantos buenos momentos nos ha deparado en el pasado. Periodista vocacional y detective por obligación, pasa sus días resolviendo casos que implican a personas que mueren en extrañas circunstancias.
Nada ha cambiado en el modo de afrontar la partida. La estructura consistirá en varios días –a modo de mini episodios– durante los cuales iremos investigando esos casos, asistidos por nuestro ácido colega. Y nuestro otro compañero no podía faltar a la cita: el cuaderno, fiel amigo de papel donde se apuntarán las pistas clave que nos indicarán el camino para triunfar en nuestras, casi siempre, misteriosas empresas. 
El sistema de avance en la aventura ha sufrido una ligera simplificación con respecto a Blackwell Unbound, y ahora el enlace de pista es mas sencillo e intuitivo, aunque algunas veces seguiremos sin saber muy bien qué hacer. No podía ser perfecto, y no deja de ser un sistema antiguo propio de las aventuras gráficas de finales de los años 90. Un detalle muy a destacar son los pequeños retazos de información sobre el pasado de Lauren (tía de Rosangela y anterior compañera de Joey) que se nos van dosificando sutilmente en el transcurso de los capítulos. Asimismo, los afliados comentarios de Joey, que nos sacaran una carcajada en varias ocasiones, siguen siendo otra de las marcas de la casa y parte fundamental del toque humorístico del que siempre han hecho gala las aventuras gráficas de Wadjet Eye.
La construcción de personajes es buena y, si bien no es del todo memorable (dejando de lado a la pareja protagonista), ayuda bastante al avance de la trama y nos mete de lleno en una ambientación muy conseguida y asentada sobre todo si hemos jugado y disfrutado de los anteriores títulos. Se ha conseguido, con un numero reducido de individuos en el que fijarnos, mostrar un rico retrato de Nueva York lleno de sombras y luces, un mérito grande teniendo en cuenta los medios disponibles.
La historia del título en general es más madura, en una evolución progresiva desde que pinchamos con el ratón por primera vez en las calles de Nueva York en Blackwell Legacy. A ello contribuye un aspecto gráfico mejorado en gran medida y que, si bien en un principio chocará con lo visto anteriormente, a los pocos minutos de empezar a jugar veremos que es de las mejores cosas que le han pasado a Blackwell. De hecho, será la culminación gráfica en la saga, como ya comprobareis cuando comente el siguiente capítulo de la saga. Pero no adelantemos acontecimientos.
La duración de la aventura es muy reducida, un formato al que estamos acostumbrados si ya hemos jugado a las anteriores partes. Es probable que este sea el juego mas corto de la saga hasta ahora, y como siempre en apenas una tarde se finalizará sin problemas. Incluso teniendo en cuenta los puzles que en determinados momentos requerirán de utilizar el ordenador de Rosangela, probablemente una de las ideas mejor implementadas en juegos en los últimos años. Una característica muy original y que espero se explote a niveles mayores en la siguiente iteración de la saga.
Si algo caracteriza a Blackwell, viendo los 3 titulos en perspectiva, es que se ha desarrollado con un cariño y un compromiso de excepción. Estamos hablando de un título de presupuesto muy reducido comparado con los proyectos de mas envergadura a los que estamos acostumbrados en la industria. Detalles como el sentido del humor que desbordan Joey y Rosangela y algo que se lleva arrastrando desde el primer capitulo, una sección de tomas falsas del doblaje del juego, lo demuestran. Es una pequeña recompensa para aquellos que han disfrutado de verdad con la experiencia y nos acerca más a los creadores de este pequeño mundo que conforman los títulos de la saga Blackwell.
En resumen, si gustáis de las buenas historias y del sabor antiguo de las aventuras gráficas de los noventa, no dudéis en echarle un vistazo a este y el resto de títulos de Wadget Eye Games, todo un adalid en el desarrollo independiente de videojuegos. Converged, como dice el título.
No te apresures a cerrar la saga, aun te falta disfrutar del cuarto titulo Blackwell Deception.
