En esta Gamescom, una vez más, pudimos echar un ojo a lo que nos quieren ofrecer desde ahora hasta principios del año que viene muchas de las empresas asistentes. Si bien no había ninguna novedad que nos hiciese caernos de espaldas, Paradox en concreto, si que disponía de un listado de títulos que oscilan entre lo interesante y lo muy interesante. A continuación os dejo un breve repaso de lo que pude catar de primera mano.
War of the Roses (Fatshark)
Un curioso juego ambientado en la guerra civil que tuvo lugar en Inglaterra a mediados del siglo XV. Y digo curioso porque en lugar de contentarse con un juego de estrategia nos propone dos maneras de meternos en faena. El primero es un modo monojugador que realmente sirve de introducción al usuario dentro de su sistema, de manera que posteriormente pueda dar rienda suelta a sus habilidades en el modo multiusuario. Para que nos entendamos, es una especie de Battlefield, pero con la diferencia de usar armas del siglo XV, lo que implica el uso de arcos, caballos, diferentes tipos de espadas, lanzas, etcétera. El juego actualmente está pasando una etapa como beta abierta, lo que permite su desarrollador (creador de Krater, Lead and Gold: Gangs of the Wild West, Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 y Hamilton’s Great Adventure), pulir los fallos que vayan encontrando antes de la salida del juego, que se espera para el 2 de Octubre.
Game of Dwarves (Zeal Games Studio)
Estrategia desde una perspectiva original, manejamos a una tropa de enanos en su propia mina teniendo que encargarnos de su correcta alimentación, de la decoración, la defensa, incluso de la educación del rey. Una de las sorpresas que nos trae es la posibilidad de, como buenos enanos, cavar en nuestra propia mina, y esto se puede realizar en 3 dimensiones, lo que da bastante juego. Es la opera prima de los también suecos Zeal Games Studio, realizada con el mismo motor que War of the Roses, Bitsquid, aunque el diseño estético es bastante cómico. Se espera que salga a la calle a finales de año.
Cities in Motion 2 (Paradox Interactive)
Se trata de la secuela de uno de los juegos de gestión económica más interesantes de los últimos años, y casualmente uno de los primeros juegos que analizamos en esta página. El título incluye bastantes cambios. El primero pero no el más evidente es el motor, pues se ha empleado el popular Unity, y sorprende ver lo bien que va todo. El segundo, relativo a la filosofía, ya que en lugar de empezar en 1920 y tener que evolucionar hasta la época actual de una manera rápida el juego opta por comenzar en la época actual, pero su avance es más lento de manera que además de mandar sobre nuestros medios de transporte podemos modificar la ciudad al crear líneas que a la llevan gente hacia otros lugares. Tiene buena pinta aún queda tiempo para que salga, no podremos hincarle el diente hasta mediados del año que viene.
Impire (Cyanide)
Con un planteamiento parecido a Dungeon Keeper, en Impire somos los malos de la saga Majesty, un diablillo llamado Báal-Abaddon, con él tendremos que construir nuestro reinado del mal desde el inicio, invocando poco a poco a otros seres del averno, y construyendo un lugar que posteriormente deberemos defender de los pérfidos héroes. Durante el devenir de la partida realizaremos tanto labores de construcción, como de exploración, así como de estrategia con combates en tiempo real, lo que implica que el juego puede exigir bastante del usuario. En realiadad, no es nada que nos sorprenda demasiado, pero es innegable que se cuenta con un equipo de desarrollo en el que se puede confiar dado que son los creadores de títulos como Bloodbowl o Cycling Manager.
Europa Universalis IV (Paradox Interactive)
La saga es un plato realmente fuerte y uno de los hitos actuales de la estrategia civilizadora, donde nos dejan ponernos a los mandos de cualquier nación desde antes del descubrimiento de América hasta las guerras napoleónicas. Teniendo en cuenta que en la tercera entrega hubo multitud de expansiones, no es de extrañar que se haya retrasado hasta 6 años la siguiente versión que aparecerá a finales de 2013. Lo que vimos tiene buena pinta, y muestra una especial preocupación por todo el sistema de navíos mercantes o de las protecciones de las zonas de negocios, así como el paso de las estaciones en tiempo real sobre un trabajado mapa en 3D. No pudimos probar el sistema de combate aunque nos dijeron permanecería intacto desde la anterior versión, pero si nos comentaron que están haciendo un especial hincapié los balances del multijugador.
A falta de otros juegos futuros como The Showdown Effect, Dungeonland, Salem y Starvoid, parece que Paradox se está fijando en su audiencia más “estratégica” para el final de año y el comienzo del que viene. Nosotros, como siempre, los tendremos en nuestra mira.
